Sponge cake

You need
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • 50 g of butter or margarine

Seasonings
  • Cardamom
  • Ground ginger
  • Grated peel of grapefruit or other citrus fruits
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Fresh basil or lemon balm
Do this
  1. Put the oven on 175°C.
  2. Butter and cover a baking tin with bread crumbs, a baking tin about 2 litres or 24 cm in diameter (for 1 cake).
  3. Beat egg and sugar until puffy. Mix flour, baking powder, the seasonings you want and fold into the egg mixture. Boil milk with butter and stir into the batter. Pour the batter into to the baking tin.
  4. Bake the cake in the lower part of the oven for about 35-40 minuts.

The recipe could been better than what it is. In one step includes many steps. The steps about how to do the sponge cake could been more clear, by divided the steps in more and smaller steps. I understad the recipe but it´s very unclear about how to do the sponge cake. Because some steps includes many steps. For example could you write step 3 in four various steps.

One good thing with the recipe is you know how big the baking tin most be for the cake. In the first step it says you most put the oven on. In other recipe can it says you should start with the matter and put the oven on later. It´s also good that the ingredients are in order of when you use them.
